Welcome to the first newsletter covering Malton only. The team still stands the same PS1082 Roy Brown as sergeant, myself PC1492 Jane Jones safer neighbourhood officer and PCSO 4789 Audie Sellars.
Schools
We still continue to work closely with the schools by holding regular surgeries. We have just held our first drop in at Malton county primary school. The next drop in will be Thursday 1st May 2008 in the school house. So we are hoping the children will bring their parents along and come to talk to us with any Issues they might have.

Crime Figures
These figures are for the crimes in Malton from 1st April 2007 to the end of March 2008
Violence -14 %
Burglary Dwelling +57%
Burglary other +135%
Theft +33%
Vehicle crime +108%
Criminal Damage +4%
Other crimes +4%
So we ended the year with 506 crimes been reported which finishes us off at +19%.
Burglary other was our main area this includes shed break in, and vehicle crime this includes damage to a vehicle, theft of a vehicle etc
Neighbourhood Watch
Since the last newsletter 3 people have signed up to be neighbourhood watch Co- ordinators. We would still like to hear from anyone who may be interested in becoming a Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator.

Pub Watch
I have held a meeting with all the licencees in town it was a successful turn out and the pubs can now show photo’s of people that are banned from the pubs in town.
Shop Watch
I am in the process now in trying to get the shop watch updated so that the local shops can be shown photo’s of shop lifters. I am also hoping to give training sessions on security to the shop assistants

Other Business
North Yorkshire Police conduct a User Satisfaction survey on a monthly basis. This involves asking those that have come into contact with NYP their views on how they were treated. The results for April 2007 to January 2008 show that 90.7% of those surveyed were satisfied with the ease of contacting NYP. 77.9% were satisfied with the actions taken by NYP, 65.5% were satisfied with follow by the police, 92.6% were satisfied with the treatment received and 82.2% were satisfied with the whole experience.
The Home Office has funded a two-week campaign to promote Safer Neighbourhoods Teams locally. The campaign started on 17 March and is called ‘A name in every neighbourhood – keeping the promise’. It aims to ensure communities know who their Safer Neighbourhoods Officers are and how to contact them. In
A new road safety operation, ‘Operation Anvil’, started this month and will continue to run until October 2008. The operation builds on the successes of Operations Helical and Halter . It uses the intelligence gained in those operations to develop an even more effective approach to enforcing safer roads. Throughout the Operation, North Yorkshire Police will be working closely with the ’95 Alive’ Road Safety Partnership to help raise awareness of many of the issues affecting road safety and to educate drivers on safe use of our roads in order to save lives.
